Rincontrarsi a Venezia

One of Vinicius de Moraes’ songs says that “life is the art of meeting”. It is also through art, and with art, that we can meet up again with our origin, beauty, different cultures, and our humanity.
Venice is the ideal meeting place, a City that appears to separate with its calli and its canals but that in fact has always gracefully united all the Mediterranean, all the lovers, all the artists. Concurrently with the Architecture Biennial and celebrations for the 1600 years of the founding of the city of Venice, Spazio Berlandis, after careful restoration, is being inaugurated.
This space, the premises of this “meeting”, has a noble tradition: that of work. In the former carpentry of the Fassi Boatyard, one of the oldest in Venice, boats were built, the activity that has always vivified the City, and it has now become a place for culture, for art, for producing ideas, almost as an act of love for the city itself.
This project, in the particular historic moment we are undergoing, aspires to offer the opportunity to be in harmony with others, with our fears and our hopes, calling upon art, its strength, its emotion, its beauty.
The plurality of artistic expressions (painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, installation) also encompasses the complexity of reality. A plurality explored by the show, with the hope that it can help us think about the beauty of comparison and the challenges of our present time.
Our guides in this experience will be eight artists, prominent on the international scene, coming from different cultures and using various means of expression: Francesco Candeloro, Maurizio Donzelli, Maurizio Pellegrin, Fabrizio Plessi, Ferdinando Scianna, João Vilhena, Francesca Woodman, Toots Zynsky.
The Spazio Berlendis curators, Emanuela Fadalti and Matilde Cadenti, are happy to be able to rely on the collaboration of eight Venetian galleries (Alberta Pane, Beatrice Burati Anderson Art Space & Gallery, Caterina Tognon, La Galleria di Dorothea Van der Koelen, Ikona, Marignana Arte, Galleria Michela Rizzo, Victoria Miro), that will take part in the project presenting the work of one of their artists.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a text by philosopher Jonathan Molinari.

On the occasion of the inauguration, Saturday, June 5, at 7 p.m., Spazio Berlendis presents a concert by the cellist Federico Toffano, Ricercari & Ritrovari, with music by Domenico Gabrielli, Ivan Fedele and Johann Sebastian Bach. Reservations required.

Nel testo di una bellissima canzone di Vinicius de Moraes è scritto che “la vita è l’arte dell’incontro”.
È anche attraverso l’arte, e con l’arte, che è possibile rincontrare la nostra origine, la bellezza, culture differenti, la nostra umanità.
Venezia è il luogo ideale del rincontro, una Città che sembra dividere, con le sue calli e i suoi canali, ma che in realtà ha sempre unito con eleganza tutto il mediterraneo, tutti gli amanti e tutti gli artisti.
In concomitanza con la Biennale di Architettura e le celebrazioni per i 1600 anni della fondazione della città di Venezia, inaugura, dopo un accurato intervento di recupero, lo Spazio Berlendis.
Tale spazio, sede di questo “rincontro”, ha una tradizione nobile: quella del lavoro. Nell’ex falegnameria dello Squero Fassi, uno dei più antichi di Venezia, erano costruite imbarcazioni, si realizzava quel lavoro che anima da sempre la Città e che ora è diventato un luogo destinato alla cultura, all’arte, alla produzione di idee, quasi come un atto d’amore per la città stessa.
Questo progetto, nel particolare momento storico che stiamo vivendo, vuole offrire l’opportunità di conciliarci con gli altri, con le nostre paure e con le nostre speranze, utilizzando la forza, l’emozione, e la bellezza dell’arte.
Nella pluralità delle espressioni artistiche (pittura, scultura, fotografia, disegno, installazione) ritroviamo anche la complessità del reale. Una pluralità che è esplorata nella mostra, con la speranza che questo ci aiuti a riflettere sulla bellezza del confronto e sulle sfide del nostro presente.
A guidarci in questo percorso saranno otto artisti affermati nel panorama internazionale, provenienti da culture diverse e che utilizzano vari mezzi espressivi: Francesco Candeloro, Maurizio Donzelli, Maurizio Pellegrin, Fabrizio Plessi, Ferdinando Scianna, João Vilhena, Francesca Woodman, Toots Zynsky.

Le curatrici di Spazio Berlendis, Emanuela Fadalti e Matilde Cadenti, hanno avuto il piacere di poter contare sulla collaborazione di alcune gallerie veneziane (Alberta Pane, Beatrice Burati Anderson Art Space & Gallery, Caterina Tognon, La Galleria di Dorothea Van der Koelen, Ikona, Marignana Arte, Galleria Michela Rizzo, Victoria Miro), che parteciperanno al progetto presentando le opere di un loro artista.

La mostra sarà accompagnata da un testo del filosofo Jonathan Molinari.

In occasione dell’inaugurazione, sabato 5 giugno, alle ore 19.00, si terrà un concerto del violoncellista Federico Toffano, Ricercari & Ritrovari, con musiche di Domenico Gabrielli, Ivan Fedele e Johann Sebastian Bach. Su prenotazione.
